Concept Creation, Casting and Art Direction for the printed Editorial ‘NAIL’EM!’ in Sleeks Issue #78 Bliss.

In a shifting world of complex identities, something that underrepresented and conventional beauties have in common is the fast and sharp eye of judgment of the other, that gazes at everyone with no exceptions. Features that used to be considered vulgar and nowadays mainstream, but s t i l l victims of this judgment - like wearing acrylic nails, then become a metaphor that describes how uncomfortable
the reality of being an individual can sometimes be.

Taking acrylic nails as the subject, the irony of this vision lies in the dramatisation of everyday tasks. These are being twisted, in a series of guttered and ironic images.

Through a sarcastic lens, the editorial answers eight of the most asked intrusive questions that some people have to endure at any social occasion. Questions like "How do you wipe your ass with those?" or more generally "How can you live your life like that?". To answer these, we created eight different scenarios. Each of them will be composed of a full figure shot and a detail shot. The detail shots will show how the actions questioned are actually so easily doable, while the full figure shots will recreate how said actions are imagined as difficult.
